INSPECTION & ACCEPTANCE
THREADED INSERT ANCHORS
Acceptance of threaded insert anchor systems will be on the basis of approved brands and satisfactory certifications. These materials are approved for use when the project plans require a threaded insert to be grouted in a pre-drilled hole. Brand names must be identifiable on the containers. All products must be used in accordance with manufacturer recommendations. Approved brands are listed in the Materials Approved Products Listing Enterprise (MAPLE).
Prior to being placed on the list of approved brands, the threaded insert anchoring system will be evaluated by the Office of Construction and Materials. The evaluation will consist of bonding the insert in a six-inch deep, pre-drilled hole of a diameter 1/8-inch larger than the outside diameter of the insert. A minimum pullout load of 25,000 lbs. is required after the epoxy has cured for seven (7) days.
The manufacturer shall file a certification statement at the beginning of each calendar year stating that the material supplied during that year is identical with the formulation previously tested and approved by the Office of Construction and Materials.
The Office of Construction and Materials may sample and test polymer grouts to verify compliance with the specification requirements.
